I use a system to pre-brake the object in Houdini using voronoi noise.
The animation on the destruction was animated using Blastcode Maya Plugin. I would love to get more framed on the first shot :-) The second part was one master shot and 2 slaves shots. Unfortunately, we can’t see all of the work with 3 layers on materials (brick, food and stucco) due on the low lighting conditions.
The secondary debris and dust was created to add more details to give notion of scale. This was using the contact and the separation of the broken parts.
For me, destruction is always something fun to do :-)
